Portfolio samples for OHC

Hi, Jena, Leah, and Melissa! I’ve selected five publications and campaigns I anticipate being relevant to the Communications Coordinator role. I’m also happy to draft a mock press release, event blurb, or short article, if more writing samples would be helpful to the team (an article I authored is included in the OMRI newsletter sample).

I’ve spent many years designing, editing, and coordinating the production of print and digital newsletters. From hospital systems and insurance companies to romance writers and readers, organic certifiers to YMCA members and donors, I’ve produced scores of quarterly and monthly publications catering to diverse audiences—and client budgets—always staying true to each organization’s voice and brand.

This is the most recent print edition of the Eugene Family YMCA’s newsletter, highlighting its philanthropy-funded, mission-driven work. We collect and showcase member impact stories to inspire the charitable giving that powers the Y’s robust financial assistance program, keeping membership accessible to all.

I chose this edition of the OMRI quarterly newsletter (sent to thousands of certifiers and other organic professionals) because I authored the lead article, which outlines the importance of OMRI’s then-newly codified DEI vision and policy. I was responsible for co-curating, co-editing, proofreading, and coordinating production of the newsletter each season.

Authenticity is in rare supply in our current media landscape. Whether we’re aiming to inspire donors, build a brand that resonates, or grow interest in services or communities, centering messaging around compelling stories about real people softens cynicism and allows organizations to connect meaningfully with their stakeholders and the public.

The following pieces comprise three separate stories that were featured during spring 2026 on the Y lobby’s “Here for Good” digital wall, illustrating the powerful impact of donor-funded financial assistance through storytelling and meaningful statistics.

A view of the Y’s Here For Good wall, for context

For some, numbers speak louder than emotional messaging, and breathing life into the statistics that tell an organization’s story has a more measurable, concrete impact. I built the following assets around quantifiable community benefits realized by the Eugene Family YMCA in 2024.

I designed these vibrant screens that were displayed on the Y lobby’s “Here for Good” digital wall in March and April 2025, with four landscape screens cycling through four separate impact themes, plus a single portrait screen sharing calls-to-action.

Lastly, I’m including some pieces I designed for annual giving efforts, including printed and digital appeal letters and supporting print ads and advertorials.

Thank you all again so much for your time, energy, consideration, and flexibility. I look forward to talking more with the team in person next week!

Best,
